Despite a lively protest vigil by some 3,000 - 4,000 Christians outside the House of Lords on 11th October, and trenchant comments by most of their Lordships, the Racial & Religious Hatred Bill was given a Second Reading without a vote by the House of Lords last night.

The Bill, which we are opposing because it will criminalise Gospel preaching and freedom of speech, now passes to its House of Lords Committee stage in a couple of weeks' time.
There will be a full report on the debate in the November edition of the Christian Voice newsletter, out the week after next, God willing. All is not over yet! Our prayer is for the Bill to be wrecked by amendments in Committee.
Stephen Green, National Director of Christian Voice, debated this Bill and defended the Blasphemy Law on BBC4's The Moral Maze, which was recorded last night (Tuesday) and which is transmitted tonight (Wednesday) at 8pm. Maybe worth a listen, if only to marvel at the anti-Christian prejudices of the overwhelmingly-atheist panel. If you miss it, go to http://www.bbc.co.uk/radio4/religion/moralmaze.shtml
