The Olympic mosque is being financed by donations, mainly through Tablighi Jamaat, an Islamic organisation with strong roots in
Pakistan
and
Bangladesh
.
Concerns have been raised about Tablighi Jamaat’s links with terrorism. Several key suspects charged with involvement in the recent airline terror plot, have been linked to Tablighi Jamaat. (Click HERE to read the Sunday Times’ report).
Assad Sarwar, 26, was arrested from his home in
High Wycombe
. His brother, Amjad, told Channel 4 news that Assad attended weekend study groups run by Tablighi Jamaat.
Two other suspects arrested in Walthamstow also attended the organisation’s meetings. Jamaat preachers regularly visited the mosque in Walthamstow, where most of the
East London
suspects worshipped.
Intelligence sources say that at least seven of the 23 suspects may have participated in the group’s events.
This is not the first time that Tablighi Jamaat has been linked with terrorism on our shores. Mohammed Sidique Khan, the ringleader of the 7th July bombers, is believed to have attended the organisation’s mosque in Dewsbury. He and another bomber, Shehzad Tanweer, also attended a mosque in
Leeds
controlled by the group.
Jamaat’s terrorist connections are not merely confined to
Britain.
In
France,
an estimated 80% of Islamic extremists come from this group, which has been labelled the ‘antechamber of fundamentalism’ by French intelligence officers.
Paris-based academic, Marc Gaborieau, believes Tablighi Jamaat has long-term plans for ‘the conquest of the world…in the spirit of jihad.’
American sources have expressed equal concern. In 2003, Michael J Heimbach, deputy chief of the FBI’s international terrorism section said, ‘We have a significant presence of Tablighi Jamaat in the United States and we have found that Al Qaeda used them for recruiting now and in the past.’
Although Jamaat’s terrorist connections are undisputed by American, French and German intelligence,
UK
officials have publicly endorsed its claims to be peaceful and non-political, presumably out of fear of being seen as ‘Islamophobic’ and inflaming relations between Muslims and the rest of us.
And that may be being charitable. Our ruling secularist Elite, people in power like Dr John Reid, Sir Ian Blair, John Biggs of the London Development Agency, Professor Michael Thorne of Thames Gateway, really think that by being accommodating to Muslim groups, by giving them money, by acceding to their demands, the Islamists will become ‘westernised’ and supportive of Democracy. The depth of their ignorance of Islam is breath-taking. By refusing to admit the truth – to us, or perhaps even to themselves - they are putting us all in danger.
‘It beggars belief,’ wrote Melanie Phillips, ‘that, after everything that has happened, after all the lessons that the British authorities have allegedly now learned from 9/11, 7/7 and the multitudinous conspiracies currently being tracked, after all the laws that have been passed to deal with the spreading of Islamic extremism and recruitment to terror within the UK, such a mosque funded by such an organisation can still be allowed to go ahead.’ (Click HERE to read Phillips’ entire article)
